InfoCrofters
InfoCrofters is, as you might imagine, a business name concocted at 2:00 a.m. when entrepreneurial visions kept Ann Stringfield's brain active into the wee hours.

Having worked 18 years in a corporate Special Library, developing most any sort of database imaginable to meet the needs of the corporation, individual departments, special projects, and individual scientists, engineers, and management, creating useful databases and taking them into a web environment (internet or intranet) became my specialty.  I thoroughly enjoyed the excellent experience, people, salary, and benefits!.  Through professional and personal networking and volunteerism, I became aware of the tremendous opportunities for organizing information wherever we gaze!

And so, there came a point in time when both the freedom and responsibilities of entrepreneurism, an out-of-the-corporate box experience, simply became a new personal goal.  We raised questions about where we spend our working hours. Why do we leave,, for 8 hours each day the home, family, neighbors and gardens that we consistently and carefully tend after-hours?  Can we simultaneously immerse and surround ourselves with many of our daily pleasures, both hard work and hard play? With careful planning and a big gulp of courage, Ann Stringfield created her new business, InfoCrofters, in 1998.

What's in the name ... InfoCrofters?

In Medieval times, crofters worked from their homes, cultivating land alongside their modest cottages and crafting products for which they'd developed talents, whether that be weaving, blacksmithing, woodworking, or whatever.  Crofters were original home-office workers!  My early English Stringfield ancestors farmed long-narrow fields, "string fields", and likely made their living off the land in addition to making and selling their oown specialty products or services.

Crofters lived outside of nearby castles, out-of-the-box.  If crofters paid their taxes to the castle lords, created their own sustinance, and generally kept out of trouble, no doubt they served a useful purpose in the greater social system and lived fulfilling lives.  Ann Stringfield sought that by mid-life!

At InfoCrofters, we work from home offices and cultivate your databases and websites as our harvest.  We use Inmagic, BookWhere, and Homestead software as our primary tools, and enjoy creating databases for our customers, and making them searchable on your Intranet or the Internet, meeting each customer's needs.

If you have further questions about InfoCrofters, our name or our business, we encourage you to call us at 336-370-0457 or e-mail infocrofters@triad.rr.com .
