InfoCrofters
InfoCrofters is our business name, concocted at 2:00 a.m. when entrepreneurial visions kept Ann Stringfield's determined imagination active into the wee hours.

Armed with a Bachelors degree in Biology from UNC-Greensboro, then two years as Biology Lab Assistant at UNC-Charlotte, followed by a Masters degree in Library Science from UNC-Chapel Hill,
I enjoyed 18 years of information provision to scientists, engineers, and management in a well established Research Center in Greensboro, NC.  My positions advanced from Chemical Information Specialist, to External Information Specialist, Internal Information Specialist, and Senior Information Specialist.

By my 18th year of information provision, my specialties were collecting, organizing, and developing most any sort of searchable database imaginable, meeting the information needs of the corporation.  Professional and personal networking and volunteerism opportunities were tremendous, and the unending opportunities for organizing information wherever we turn became increasingly enticing!

And so, there came a time when entrepreneurism, an out-of-the-corporate-box experience, became
a goal.  I asked self-challenging questions, such as "Why do we leave the environment of home, family, pets, and gardens, for 9 hours daily to support those very people and places we so joyfully tend each evening?  Can't we simultaneously immerse and surround ourselves with both hard work and hard play within the same environment?" With careful planning and a gulp of courage, InfoCrofters was born in our home-based office in 1998!

And what about that name ... InfoCrofters?

In Medieval times, crofters cultivated land alongside their cottages and crafted products to sell reflecting their talents, whether that be weaving, blacksmithing, woodworking .... the original
home-office workers!  My English Stringfield ancestors farmed long-narrow fields, "string fields", and likely made their living off the land whilst crafting homegrown specialty products or services.

At InfoCrofters, we work from home offices, cultivating your databases and websites as our harvest. We use Inmagic, BookWhere, and Homestead software as our primary tools, and enjoy crafting databases for our customers, making them searchable on a customer's Intranet or the Internet.

We look forward to answering your questions about who we are and what we do at InfoCrofters!Simply contact 336-370-0457 or e-mail infocrofters@triad.rr.com .
